Spring on the levels is about bird song; the banks and the sky are just bursting with song; however for me the prize belongs to the haunting call and song of the curlew, ‘cour-leee’ and its bubbling song whilst in flight. There is nothing quite like the evocative call of this our largest wading bird. Its call stays with me whilst I paint and I hope some of that feeling of connection comes through in this piece.
