secret places
Secret Places, these works are a map of interior worlds—private, contemplative, and deeply human. They evoke the spaces we retreat to when words fall short: the quiet corners of memory, the thresholds of emotion, the moments of stillness where something unnamed stirs.
Rather than depicting physical locations, Ashar paints states of being. Each painting is a doorway into a different kind of silence, a different kind of knowing. Together, they form a constellation of hidden realms—secret places that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Throughout the work, Ashar uses recurring motifs that act like markers within these “secret places.”: These symbols never declare their meaning outright. Instead, they function like clues, encouraging the viewer to wander and interpret.
I found a place Where we can go
To get away
From all we know
A secret place
Just close your eyes
I'll take you there
Let's go… taken from a poem by King Crow
NB: These paintings have not photographed accurately; the images appear patchy, but in reality the surfaces are smoothly blended. I’m extremely happy with this body of work, as it expresses what I wanted to say. — otherwise I wouldn’t share them.
